Going to the theatre isn’t just about seeing a show—these days, with custom cocktails and an array of snacks available, food and beverage is an important aspect of the show-going experience. Intermission Concessions Co. has announced its official launch, with the aim of helping theatres improve their concessions experience.

The venture is a collaboration of longtime Broadway concessions company Sweet Hospitality Group (the minds behind the Broadway branded souvenir cups) and Scene Partners (the founder of Broadway Briefing). Intermission will offer products, services, and guidance for theatres around the country looking to incorporate food and beverage into their venues.

“Food and beverage offers theatres an increasingly important opportunity to make a night at the theatre memorable,” said Matt Britten, founder of Scene Partners, in a statement. “With Intermission, we’re bringing great products and practical solutions together around the needs of live theatre, helping venues create a more welcoming audience experience and make concessions easier for their teams to run.”

Any theatre that partners with Intermission will be offered an array of products of snacks and beverages, as well as tools to help with concessions planning and operational support.

“We start by learning about a theatre’s audience, infrastructure, and priorities,” said Maurice Bensmihen, venture lead of Intermission Concessions Co. who will oversee its day-to-day operations. “From there, we help the venue choose products and support; align on pricing, delivery, and team readiness; and review performance together so the program can improve over time.”

Said Julie Rose, CEO of Sweet Hospitality Group, in a statement. “With Intermission, we’re bringing decades of hands-on experience to help venue partners build stronger concessions programs. Whether an organization is building its concessions program or refining an established one, we can help its team choose the right products, deliver exceptional customer service, and make concessions a memorable part of a night at the theatre.”
