Mount Morris, N.Y. — New York State Police said a driver was killed in a crash late Monday on Interstate 390 in Livingston County.

Police said they responded to the single-vehicle crash in Mount Morris around 10:20 p.m. and determined a northbound SUV went off the road, hit a guardrail and traveled down an embankment before coming to rest in a creek bed. The SUV had heavy damage and caught fire.

The driver and sole occupant, a 37-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the Livingston County coroner responded to the scene, and an autopsy was ordered.

It was unclear what led to the crash. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
