Walmart has announced a recall of food products sold in some of its stores across the country due to an illness risk.
Kayem Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 1,584,361 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to possible temperature abuse during storage, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The company produced the affected items between March 31 and Oct. 7, 2026. The products were shipped to select Walmart stores in the following states: Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont.
The recall was initiated after a retail customer complained about warm product temperatures at the point of delivery on Oct. 1. The company investigated and determined that various ready-to-eat meat and poultry products had been stored in a warehouse cooler that had experienced temperature deviations.
No confirmed reports of illness have been linked to consumption of these products. However, federal food safety officials are concerned that some product may still be in consumers’ refrigerator.
The recalled products bear establishment numbers “EST. M/P 7839,” “EST. P 20935A” and “EST. M 9520” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them, according to the FSIS. The items should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify that firms notify their customers and ensure products are no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
