Police say a dispute over smoking marijuana on a subway train escalated into the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Darryl Rodriguez at a Midtown station.
NEW YORK — A dispute over smoking marijuana on a subway train appears to have led to the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man at a New York City station, according to investigators.
Police say they have identified the suspected gunman and are actively searching for him. However, officials have not publicly released his name.

The shooting happened Saturday afternoon at the 7th Avenue-53rd Street station in Midtown, Manhattan, where Darryl Rodriguez was shot in the chest and killed.
Detectives believe the suspect was smoking marijuana on the train when Rodriguez confronted him, sparking an argument that escalated into gunfire.
Police continue to search for the suspect as the investigation remains ongoing.
The killing marked the seventh homicide in the city’s subway system this year, compared with four at the same time last year.
