On October 15th, the Queens Chamber of Commerce honored 15 exceptional building projects that are shaping the borough through their design, construction and sustainability at its 2026 Centennial Building Awards Gala at The TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The Queens Chamber has hosted its prestigious Building Awards since 1926. This year, as the awards marked their 100th anniversary, the Chamber celebrated that century-long legacy and the architects, builders, developers and other industry leaders behind the projects shaping Queens today. As part of the celebration, the Chamber also recognized the Paul A. Vallone Queens Animal Care Center, Queens’ first full-service animal shelter, for its importance to the borough and its residents.

“This event has remained a priority for the Queens Chamber of Commerce for 100 years because we recognize that the people and projects we’re celebrating are literally building the future of our borough,” said Tom Grech, President and CEO of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “Reaching this centennial is not just an incredible milestone but an opportunity to recognize how the most recent awardees are the latest in a long tradition of professionals whose vision and investment have helped shape Queens into the dynamic place it is today.”

“There has never been a better time to call Queens home because we are building like never before all across this borough. And like it’s done for the better part of a century, the Queens Chamber of Commerce has played a major role in that success,” said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. “Congratulations to all our honorees who are playing a vital part in elevating Queens, literally and figuratively, and thank you to our partners at the Chamber for its continued stewardship of our thriving small business community. Here’s to the next 100 years of building our borough into a true global economic powerhouse.”

“Congratulations to all of the awardees, who are delivering exciting new additions to the built environment in The World’s Borough,” said Buildings Commissioner Ahmed Tigani. “For 100 years, the Queens Chamber of Commerce has been celebrating smart development projects that meet the needs of Queens residents. Under the Mamdani administration, we are working on important reforms that will help support future projects just like these, streamlining the development process to make it easier for more of these projects to be completed on a faster timeline.”

“The Governor and her administration are deeply grateful to the many builders, developers, architects and leaders across New York state that continue to shape and strengthen our state’s architecture,” said Cathleen Benjamin, Appointments Secretary for Governor Kathy Hochul. “Today, we’d like to extend our congratulations to 15 remarkable projects in Queens that are delivering and improving the borough’s housing, health care facilities, schools, and commercial infrastructure. These projects recognized by the Queens Chamber of Commerce’s Building Awards are truly shaping Queens’ future. As the Building Awards celebrate 100 years, we also want to thank the countless leaders who have been instrumental in achieving this milestone.”
