A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged in the rape of a 27-year-old woman who police say was followed into her residential building and sexually assaulted after an encounter on a Bedford-Stuyvesant street.
Police announced the arrest of Mayna Cordero Reynaldo, 35, on Monday night. He is charged with rape, two counts of sexual abuse and two counts of forcible touching.
The attack occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday near Bedford Avenue and Willoughby Avenue, according to investigators. Police said the victim was approached from behind by a man riding an e-bike, who slapped her buttocks over her clothing before leaving the area.
As the woman attempted to enter her residential building, police said the suspect returned, followed her inside and sexually assaulted her before fleeing on the e-bike.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition, police said.
The arrest was made Monday at about 10 p.m. within the confines of the 77th Precinct, according to the NYPD.
