Students and parents at Regis High School, an all-boys’ Catholic school on New York’s Upper East Side, have been left reeling by the teenagers death after he fell from a fifth floor window

A teenager who was reportedly waiting to be told off by a school administrator fell to his death at a private all-boys school in New York.
The 16-year-old fell from a fifth-floor window at the prestigious at Regis High School, an all-boys’ Catholic school on the Upper East Side, early on Thursday morning.
Sources told the New York Post that the boy had been waiting to see an employee about a disciplinary issue before he allegedly went up to the fifth floor and jumped. He was found outside the school with injuries consistent with a high fall. Police were called at 9:29 am and attended the scene.

The teenager was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11.45am. His identity has not been released as his family are still being notified.
Joe DeLessio, the director of communications at Regis, told local news outlet Patch: “It is with heavy hearts that we write that one of our students tragically lost his life earlier today. We are deeply saddened by his loss, and we pray that the Lord welcomes him into eternal rest and comforts his family.”

Student counselors are being made available to students and families “as we begin the process of grieving,” the spokesperson said.
He added: “We recognize their profound loss, and we are doing everything we can to support them during this unimaginable tragedy
In the aftermath of the incident a man wearing a priest collar was seen leaving the school who said that “someone had an accident” and was “seriously injured.”
A local resident heard from a parent of one of the students that “there was an incident” at the school and all students were being sent home.
“The sudden loss of a classmate can be a profoundly difficult experience for students and their families,” DeLessio said.
“Please keep our Regis community in your prayers.”
