The New York Giants will host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at MetLife Stadium as they attempt to avoid a fifth consecutive loss.

It has been a busy week for the Giants, marked by several changes to the team, the most significant of which occurred at the head coaching position.

While the Giants seek to snap a four-game losing streak following their defeat to the Chicago Bears in Week 10, the Packers are coming off a loss on Monday Night Football against the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the Packers vying for a division title and positioned as a far stronger contender than the Giants, Big Blue opened as significant underdogs and remains so ahead of this matchup.

Here are three reasons for optimism ahead of the Week 10 NFC matchup.

The Giants parted ways with head coach Brian Daboll earlier this week and handed the reins to Mike Kafka. Kafka has been with the team since 2022 and maintains a strong relationship with his players. Although Kafka and the Giants would have benefited from implementing a quarterback and head coaching change during a bye week, such transitions often galvanize a team and elevate overall performance. In addition to interim head coach Mike Kafka, Jameis Winston brings an infectious attitude that could energize the team this Sunday.

Jameis Winston vs. Packers

The Giants have won their last two matchups against the Green Bay Packers—in 2023 with Tommy DeVito under center and in 2022 with Daniel Jones at quarterback. Both times, the Giants entered as underdogs.

Jameis Winston has enjoyed success against the Packers throughout his career. He has appeared in three games against them — in 2017, 2021, and 2023, with two as a starter — posting a 123.3 passer rating while accumulating seven touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Packers on short rest

The Packers will enter this matchup on short rest after competing on Monday Night Football this past week, resulting in their second straight loss. They are also traveling on the road this week, and although it is a relatively short trip, it contributes to the compressed turnaround between games.

The Packers have posted a 1-7 record since 2023 when their opponent holds a rest advantage entering the game.
