ADC-25: Nash Audio Manhattan and Klang Studio Free Tools US
Manhattan adaptive game audio and Klang plug-in dev tools      14/11/25
Chris Nash is a force of nature, as well as being a lecturer on coding and audio, he develops some excellent tools to help people code (C++) compose and put together plug-ins and immersive game sound.
We had a chat with him at the Audio Developer Conference in Bristol, where he showed us:
Manhattan and Klang Studio rapIDE development environment.
Manhattan combines music and code into a tracker resembling an Excel spreadsheet, allowing your compositions to evolve in real-time, adapting to live inputs. Manhattan is integrated within 3D game development software like Unity and Unreal, where musical elements respond dynamically to game contexts, such as more instruments playing as enemies appear. This approach seamlessly blends session tracking with symphonic score features.
He’s also working on creating games that people can use to create soundtracks for using his tools.
Klang Studio simplifies C++ for audio programming by introducing audio semantics and syntax. Klang Studio turns C++ into a more accessible language for audio processing, by allowing embedding in the DAW and allowing you to edit code directly within plugins. Nash Audio’s initiatives aim to bridge the gap between music, code, and audio programming, freely available to encourage creative exploration.
A really decent set of free tools for the game audio and plug-in developer.
