Red Robin, the casual dining restaurant chain popular for its gourmet burgers and bottomless steak fries, is considering shuttering 70 locations over the next five years, Finance Buzz has reported.
The news comes after the brand reported a net loss of $77.5 million in 2024. During a May 29 earnings call, Todd Wilson, the company’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, said at least 10 to 15 locations could shut down in 2025. Underperforming locations are targeted for the cut, although a comprehensive list has not yet been released.
That number of closures could change, however, Finance Buzz noted, given that over 300 locations are “performing well under meaningful transformation efforts.”
Founded in 1969, the company currently operates 498 restaurants across the United States and in British Columbia, Canada. A Red Robin was once located in the Staten Island Mall in New Springville. It closed in 2019.
