TYLER, Texas — Texas Rose Festival Queen Avery Craft Armstrong visited Tyler ISD elementary campuses to read to elementary school students.
Armstrong read The Queen’s Tea to students as part of annual tradition giving students the opportunity to meet the Rose Festival Queen and learn about community traditions. The Queen’s Tea event will take place on Saturday, where guests can meet the Queen and her Court at the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden.
“I’m so excited to invite the entire community to come to my Tea,” said Queen Avery Craft Armstrong. “I hope there will be a lot of first-timers who can come and experience the event in the amazing Rose Garden!”
For decades, girls in second grade from across the community have been invited to serve as junior hostesses at the Queen’s Tea. Students from every grade are invited to attend the event. Junior hostesses greet guests, pass out fans, autograph books, maps, napkins and water, and assist with keeping the area tidy throughout the event.
“This year’s visit and events continue to highlight the strong connection between Tyler ISD, the Texas Rose Festival, and the greater Tyler community—celebrating local history, tradition, and pride in full bloom,” Tyler ISD spokesperson Jennifer Hines said.
