FOX 5 NY’s Dan Bowens takes a look at some of the more notable crimes across the New York City area this week including a man killed in a police-involved shooting, a building superintendent is murdered, and nearly a dozen NYPD vehicles are vandalized.
BROOKLYN – A NYPD officer was injured on Monday morning after responding to a shooting in Brooklyn, police said.
What we know:
Police responded to a 911 call of a person shot on Thomas S Boyland Street in the Brownsville section.
According to police, officers were informed that an unidentified individual shot a 41-year-old man in the chest. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Near the scene, police said a responding officer was injured. It was unknown at the time how the officer sustained the injury, but he was in stable condition. The timing of the injury was unknown. No arrests were made.

In a post on X, the NYPD said: “Due to police activity, please avoid the area of Linden Boulevard and Thomas S Boyland Street. Expect delays in the surrounding area.”
What we don’t know:
The circumstances behind the shooting were unknown at the time.
