STATEN ISLAND, NY — A musical theater cabaret featuring three vocalists will perform at the TRIAD Theatre on the Upper West Side on Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m., marking the production’s move from Staten Island venues to an Off-Broadway theater.
“In A Perfect World… Cabaret” features Mariah Elle Kane, Olivia Jane, and Michael Louis Curcio performing songs from musicals including “Gypsy,” “The Notebook,” “Wicked,” “Songs for a New World,” “Bridges of Madison County,” and “SMASH.”
Staten Island resident Dee Quinones-Kanevsky, artistic director and choreographer for Triple Threat Theatre, is directing the show. She previously worked as a principal dancer with the American Ballroom Theater Company and taught ballroom dancing to professionals who later appeared on “Dancing With The Stars.”
The production differs from three previous “Then and Now Alumni Cabarets” that Quinones-Kanevsky produced over the past year at Staten Island locations.
“Unlike the Then and Now Cabarets, the cast will not revisit song selection from their childhood performances,” Quinones-Kanevsky said. “The intent is to shatter cliché casting and open one’s eyes by creating visions of possibilities, threaded with insights as to why it should be so, in a perfect world.”
The performers have appeared in various roles, with Kane taking on parts including Miss Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls,” Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde,” and Reno Sweeney in “Anything Goes.” Jane has performed as Evita Peron in “EVITA,” Marta in “Company,” and Paulette Bonafonte in “Legally Blonde.” Curcio played Nathan Detroit in “Guys and Dolls.”
The one-time performance will take place at TRIAD Theatre, 158 W. 72nd St. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.TRIADNYC.com. The theater requires a $25 two-drink minimum. Walk-in attendees are welcome if seating is available. For information, call 917-754-8957.
