WASHINGTON (TNDD) — Prominent Trump critic and lawyer George Conway is potentially going to run for a New York Congressional seat, according to reports.
While Conway lives in Maryland, he hired a Democratic pollster who is working on a campaign for him to succeed Rep. Jerry Nadler who announced he was retiring, according to The New York Times.
George Conway’s ex-wife is Kellyanne Conway who served as Senior Counselor to the President of the U.S. during the first Trump administration.
A source told CNN that while Conway is an Independent, he is strongly considering running for New York’s 12th Congressional District.
Conway pitched running for Nadler’s seat earlier this week during a private virtual event.
Video footage of the event obtained by The New York Times, showed that Conway said he would run as a Democrat.
He used to be a part of the Federalist Society and if he were to run, he would point to his record of being a fierce critic of President Donald Trump.
“This is the time for a lawyer who has never been in politics to go into politics,”Conway said. “This is lawyering now.”Comment with Bubbles
