UTICA, N.Y. — Students across New York will soon have more milk options in their school cafeterias.
U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer announced the Senate’s passage of the bipartisan Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, which he supported.
This legislation allows schools to offer unflavored and flavored whole and reduced-fat milk.
Schumer said this change will benefit both students’ health and Upstate New York dairy farmers. “This is a win-win for local New York dairy farmers who can sell their products and kids who will have more healthy and delicious drink options at lunchtime.”
The Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act of 2025 highlights milk’s health benefits.
New York’s dairy industry, with nearly 3,000 farms producing over 16.1 billion pounds of milk annually, is a major contributor to the State’s agricultural economy.
