A University of Alabama at Birmingham football player allegedly stabbed two of his teammates at the team’s facility on Saturday, according to ESPN.

Daniel Israel Mincey, a freshman lineman, was arrested and booked at Jefferson County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and attempted murder, WVTM 13 reported.

The two players were transported to UAB Hospital and are in stable condition.

“UAB Police and Public Safety is investigating an assault that took place this morning at the Football Operations Center,” the school said in a statement. “Injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The suspect is in custody, and there is no threat to campus.”

The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m.

UAB is playing a home game against South Florida at Protective Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

“UAB’s top priority remains the safety and well-being of all of our students,” the school said.

Mincey was on Kentucky’s roster in 2024 and transferred to UAB for the 2025 season.
