STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Quiet weather is expected for Staten Island Monday with seasonal temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
Diminishing winds Monday afternoon will give way to calm conditions before rain arrives Tuesday night.
The National Weather Service forecasts high temperatures near seasonal normals Monday with diminishing winds in the afternoon. Monday night will see temperatures falling quickly after sunset as clouds begin moving in later in the night.
Tuesday will bring above-normal temperatures with rain becoming likely by late afternoon and continuing through Tuesday night.
Wednesday will see rain chances continuing ahead of and along a cold front that will cross the region Wednesday night.
Thanksgiving is expected to be windy and colder than normal, with high temperatures mainly in the lower to mid-40s degrees and wind chills mostly in the 30s. The National Weather Service indicates the possibility of wind gusts reaching 35 to 40 mph, with peak gusts around 45 mph from Thanksgiving through Friday.
Friday will remain windy and cold with highs mainly in the lower 40s degrees and wind chills mostly in the mid-20s to near 30 degrees. These windy conditions are the result of a tightening pressure gradient associated with a stronger area of low pressure moving through Southeast Canada.
The weekend forecast shows high pressure building into the area with mainly dry conditions expected. There is a chance of rain returning by Sunday.
