The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is introducing something entirely new this Chanukah — and it’s unlike any holiday event the neighborhood has seen before.

On Sunday, December 14 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m., the JCC’s indoor pool will undergo a dramatic transformation for the inaugural Glow: Candlelight Pool Concert. Thousands of candles will line the water’s edge and float across the surface, turning the pool into a dimly lit sanctuary of warm reflections and quiet shimmer. The goal: to create a space that feels peaceful, communal, and distinctly magical — a setting where the theme of light can be felt as much as it’s celebrated.

Guests will be invited to experience the concert their own way. Some may choose to watch from the pool deck, surrounded by the soft glow and echo of live music. Others can drift in the water itself as the harmonies of Backtrack Vocals — an award-winning a cappella group — fill the room with songs rooted in light, hope, and New York City’s own winter traditions.

“Glow” marks the debut of what the JCC hopes will become a new seasonal tradition. The format is intentionally intimate, with three ticket options available: swimming, general seating, and a limited number of front-row spots for those who want to be closest to the water and the performers.

For one night only, the pool becomes a lantern — and the JCC invites the community to step inside.

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is located at 334 Amsterdam Avenue (at the corner of West 76th Street).
