Paul J. Walbridge, 65, of Malone, NY, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 18, 1960, in Malone, Paul devoted his life to his community and his family, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and unyielding passion for sports.
Paul was a proud recreation leader at Bare Hill Correctional Facility. He will be fondly remembered as the voice of the Malone Huskies for an incredible 40 years—broadcasting heartfelt moments and thrilling games that brought the community together. His unwavering commitment to sports extended beyond broadcasting; he served as a New York State Umpire and official for football, softball, and baseball for 37 years, inspiring young athletes and fostering sportsmanship in the next generation.
An active member of the American Legion, Paul also served his town as a Councilman for 18 years, earning respect and admiration from colleagues and constituents alike. He was a dedicated PEF Council Leader for over 30 years and a proud CIU Trainer and RECAB Master Trainer, sharing his wisdom and expertise with others. Paul’s contributions to local sports earned him a place in the FA/SJA Hall of Fame, as a charter member, with an induction in 2008, recognizing his impactful presence in the community.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Walbridge; his cherished daughters, Carly Gagnon and Erin Wojciechowski; sons-in-law, Raymond Gagnon and Jesse Wojciechowski; and his beloved siblings: Richard (Rosemarie), Wayne (Michelle), Kevin (Bridget), Marcia (Charles Ellis), Thomas, and many nieces and nephews who he adored and cherished deeply.
A celebration of Paul’s life will take place on November 29, 2025. Friends and family will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a public viewing at Notre Dame Church beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by a heartfelt funeral service at 1:00 PM. In honor of Paul’s lifelong passion for sports, attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite sports shirts to the services.
Following the ceremonies, Paul will be interred at Notre Dame Cemetery in Malone.
