A Connecticut man was among two people killed in a double homicide at a cabin in New York on Sunday.

State troopers responded to a cabin on Botsford Hollow Road in Allen, New York, shortly after 10 p.m. on the report of a disturbance and found two people dead inside, according to New York State Police.

State police identified the victims as 70-year-old Mark B. Thompson of Canterbury, Connecticut and 69-year-old David E. Thompson of Port Charlotte, Florida.

The investigation found that three brothers were staying together in the hunting cabin when a physical confrontation broke out, leading to one of them calling 911. State police alleged that 65-year-old Scot D. Thompson of Englewood, Florida shot both of his brothers with a rifle and left the area using one of their vehicles.

The vehicle information was shared with area law enforcement before members of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Geneseo Police Department found it and took Scot Thompson into custody, state police said. He was turned over to troopers and charged on Monday with two counts each of second-degree murder and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

Scot Thompson was held in custody pending an arraignment hearing.

State police said the victims were expected to undergo an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation.
