Two New York City residents were found dead in an Atlantic City hotel room in what appears to have been a murder-suicide, authorities announced Wednesday.
Wei Guo Liang, a 68-year-old Brooklyn man, and Baoyi Bowie Zheng, a 36-year-old Staten Island woman, were found dead Sunday at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa on Sunday, the Atlantic County prosecutor’s office said in a press release.
Zheng died from a broken neck, while Liang died from a series of self-inflicted stab wounds, investigators said. No further details about the incident were released, and it’s unclear if Liang and Zheng had a previous relationship.
“This incident is currently being investigated by the Atlantic County prosecutor’s office’s major crimes unit and the Atlantic City Police Department,” the prosecutor’s office wrote. “Anyone with information about this incident or other serious crimes is asked to call the Atlantic County prosecutor’s office major crime unit.”
The Borgata has not seen any major criminal activity in recent years, according to news reports. There was a major police response at the hotel in July 2024 after an anonymous call by a man claiming he was inside the place with firearms and an explosive, but the threat proved unfounded.
