The Code Blue will be in effect until 8 a.m. Thursday morning.

Shelters will be open around New York City during extended hours and will increase their bed capacity.

Thursday is shaping up to be cold and blustery. In the morning, temperatures will be in the low-40s but will feel much colder due to the wind. The gusts will continue into the evening with temperatures dropping into the 30s.

If you observe someone in need of shelter, call 311, and an outreach team will respond to the location.
