Editor’s Note: This article has been updated from its original version. It previously said Boerne and L.D. Bell were the only Texas high schools participating in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is gearing up for another showstopping holiday spectacle, and some familiar Texas faces will be popping up on your screen. As the nation tunes in for tradition, nostalgia and larger-than-life performances, a few hometown talents are preparing for their moment in front of millions.
The 99th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is set to roll through Manhattan once again, and among the massive balloons, celebrity performances and marching band fanfare, the Texas Hill Country will be proudly represented. This year, Boerne High School’s Starlettes and Silver Stars dance teams are taking centerstage as one of the select ensembles invited to perform, a moment that has been a long time coming.Â
“This has been months of hard work and commitment from these student athletes,” Rachel Neiman, director of both dance teams, told the Boerne Star. “I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to see them represent Boerne on the national stage.”
But North Texas is also getting in on the Thanksgiving magic. L.D. Bell High School’s Blue Raider Band is the only Texas band marching in the 2025 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 300-member ensemble from Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, led by director Suzanne Dell, will be one of 11 marching bands performing in Manhattan.
“To be considered one of those and get this opportunity is just really cool,” Dell told KERA. “It’s something that I know I’ll never forget, and I don’t think any of our students are ever gonna forget.”
The parade special begins at 8:30 a.m. in all time zones on NBC and Peacock on Thursday, November 27.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is packing star power this year with a lineup that includes Busta Rhymes, Ciara, Colbie Caillat, Cynthia Erivo, Foreigner, Jewel, Kool & the Gang, Lainey Wilson, Lil Jon, Mickey Guyton, Shaggy, Gavin DeGraw, Taylor Momsen and Teyana Taylor.Â
On the balloon front, fan favorites are returning in full force, from Bluey, Goku and Monkey D. Luffy to Shrek’s Onion Carriage, Pikachu & Eevee, Buzz Lightyear, SpongeBob & Gary and the Pillsbury Doughboy. The parade also features 28 floats, adding even more spectacle to the 2.5-mile route through New York City.
