STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Vincent Kraker scored a game-high 22 points, including nine in a pivotal fourth quarter, as Monsignor Farrell roared back from an eight-point deficit to earn a season-opening 50-49 CHSAA A/Staten Island division win over visiting St. Joseph by-the-Sea in Oakwood.

Joe Iacono added 14 markers for the Lions, while Bryce Moye had 10.

Sea got 20 points from Mike Prue. Rob Johnson and Richie Leto added 13 and eight, respectively, for the visitors.

Curtis 50, St. Peter’s 45

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Rameik Black scored a team-high 16 points, including several big buckets down the stretch, as the Warriors upended the Eagles in a non-league game at the College of Staten Island in Willowbrook.

In addition to Black, Kayden King tossed in 13 points, including three three-pointers, while Colin Reinhold and Derek Evo chipped in with six points apiece for the 1-0 Warriors.

Freshman John Greenwald paced St. Peter’s with a game-high 18 points, including 16 in the second half. Ryan Tuite added nine on the strength of three treys for the Eagles.

Reinhold and King’s combined 12 points helped give Curtis a 21-13 lead at intermission, but the Eagles rode the three-point shooting of Tuite and Ben Terry and six points from Greenwald to tie the score at 31-31 entering the fourth.

However, King and Black tallied seven points apiece in the final period to help the Warriors squeeze out the victory.
