SUNSET PARK — SUNSET PARK RESIDENTS are demanding safety upgrades at Seventh Avenue and 41st Street, calling the intersection a “danger zone” after three crashes last month, including the fatal hit-and-run of 75-year-old Judy Byron. Her husband said another pedestrian was struck just a week later, while cyclist Kevin Flatley described daily crossings as life-threatening, according to News12 Brooklyn. Neighbors are petitioning for speed and red-light cameras, saying reckless driving has surged. 

The petition is halfway to its goal. The DOT told News12 its “thoughts are with Judith’s family and loved ones” and that it is reviewing the location for improvements while expanding camera enforcement citywide.
