STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — To the victors go the spoils!
And so the members of the Tottenville varsity baseball team received their championship rings on Thanksgiving Eve night at the Huguenot school for winning the PSAL 3A city crown last June with a 5-2 victory over Inwood Campus at Staten Island University Community Park.
It was the Pirates’ 13th baseball city crown in the PSAL.

“A heartfelt thank-you goes to Principal Ms. Gina Battista, Athletic Director Mr. Cliff Bloom, Assistant Athletic Director Mr. Lenny Hession, and Coordinator of Student Activities Ms. Jesse Siegel,” said Tottenville skipper Mike Grippo. “Their dedication and hard work made the evening possible. They continue to go above and beyond to ensure that the students and student-athletes of Tottenville High School enjoy the best experience a high school can offer.”
Grippo said the room was filled with pride as athletes, families, coaches and supporters gathered to celebrate all that the team achieved.
“Each ring represents more than just a championship — it honors the long practices, early mornings, perseverance, and unwavering belief that carried the team through its season,” Grippo said. “Our players supported one another, represented Tottenville with class and heart, and upheld the proud winning tradition of our program.
“As each student received their ring, the excitement and gratitude in the room were unmistakable. Moments like these remind us why Tottenville’s athletic programs stand out: They unite our community and showcase the very best of our school.
“Congratulations to our champions. You earned every bit of this moment. Once a Pirate, always a Pirate!”
