A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a busy Yonkers intersection on Saturday – leaving him seriously injured on Bronx River Road.
The incident happened around 5 p.m., when a man was seen crossing the street as a car sped through the intersection. Surveillance video obtained by News 12 confirmed that he was already in the crosswalk when he was hit.
“He got thrown up into the air and came down real hard on top of the car,” said Chris Caiola, who works nearby. He rushed to help, making sure no one moved the victim before police arrived.
Witnesses say the man was breathing and was taken away by ambulance. The driver—described as an older woman in a silver sedan—did stop and appeared visibly shaken as she called for help.
“It rattled me,” said Omar Badawi, who works at a nearby convenience store. “You don’t see something like that every day.”
Yonkers police say no charges have been filed as the investigation continues.
