STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Some of the borough’s major roads can get choked with traffic around school dismissal time.
A recent dash cam video submitted anonymously to the Advance/SILive.com caught reckless driving near one of Staten Island’s biggest high schools on a recent afternoon.
Around 3:25 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, a dark-colored Range Rover SUV was captured driving on Manor Road, near Brielle Avenue and Susan E. Wagner High School in Sea View.
The Range Rover is first seen behind the video camera-equipped car, swerving into the oncoming traffic lane to pass two vehicles slowing for the speed bumps in front of the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC building on Manor Road.
The SUV then follows the camera-equipped vehicle as both navigate the flow of post-dismissal traffic near the high school.
The video, edited for time, then jumps to show traffic slowing as vehicles approach the light at Brielle Avenue and Manor Road.
Suddenly, the Range Rover cuts right, into the parking lane nearest the curb. The video clip transitions to a front-facing dash cam, which shows the SUV bypassing a line of cars waiting at the light and making a wide left turn onto Brielle Avenue.
While identifying information has been withheld, a search of the SUV’s license plate indicated that the driver has over 20 speed camera tickets for speeding in school zones in 2025.
