STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Junior Xavier Farley recorded a double-double and CSI/McCown built a double-digit lead before earning a 54-46 PSAL 3A division triumph over host Port Richmond on Monday.
Farley, a two-year varsity player, finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds for the Dragons, who improved to 2-2 overall (1-1 PSAL). Stanley Kushnir chipped in with 15 points (three treys) and seven caroms while Danny O’Connor added nine points and six assists for the winners.
Port Richmond senior Kasiem Cromwell tied Farley for the game high with 18 points while Aaron Bramble tallied 10 for the 0-2 Raiders.
“A huge win in a very tough place and against a rival and well-coached Port Richmond team‚’’ said CSIM head coach Danny Lee, who also received a combined 12 points from Patrick Tucker and Daniel Zajonc. ”Always great to get the first division win of the season under your belt.’’
Thanks to some hot shooting from Kushnir, the Dragons got off to a quick start. The senior scored 10 first-quarter points — including a pair of treys and two free throws — and Farley added six markers to give CSIM a 22-14 advantage after one.
Although the Raiders cut their deficit to four at intermission (31-27), Farley tallied six more points while Zajonc and O’Connor added threes to give the Dragons a 43-33 lead heading into the final eight minutes.
Kushnir and Farley combined for eight markers and the Dragons canned 4 of 6 freebies in the fourth to stave off Port.
Tottenville 52, Petrides 41
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Elias Souleidis and Antonio Tarantino led a balanced attack with 10 points apiece and the Pirates raced to an early lead before holding on for the PSAL 3A division victory over the visiting Panthers in Huguenot.
Tottenville, which also received a combined 20 points from Danny Garcia, Michael Cinque and Nicholas Picinic, improved to 2-1 overall, including 1-0 in PSAL play.
Daynell Rowland and Kareem Nesbitt paced the Panthers (0-2) with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Shiloh Ezderman and Zyeveon Jeremia Miller scored four points apiece while Souleidis and Tarantino each drained a three to help the Pirates race to a 20-10 after one period.
However, the Panthers returned the favor in the second period behind a strong defensive effort. The visitors not only held the Pirates to seven points in the quarter, but Rowland, Jaiden Brown and Aiden Gonzalez each hit threes to cut Tottenville’s lead to 27-25 at halftime.
Head coach Kevin Alesi’s troops restored order in the second half behind a defensive surge themselves. The Pirates limited Petrides to 16 points after halftime and Picinic buried both of his treys to lead a surge that helped the hosts pull away.
St. John’s Prep 64, Sea 48
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Junior Nick Rebracca led a balanced attack with 13 points, but the Vikings put themselves in a first-half hole and never recovered as they dropped the CHSAA A division encounter to the visiting Red Storm in Huguenot.
In addition to Rebracca, Nick Lee and Joey Moran added 12 and 11 points, respectively for the Vikings. Head coach Mike Cortese’s troops fell to 1-1.
Richard Fernandez poured in a game-high 25 points while Daquan Bryant and Nykiel Naggie teamed for another 25 markers for the 2-0 Red Storm.
SJP owned a 15-12 lead after one period when Fernandez hit his third and fourth threes of the first half and scored 10 points overall as the visitors outscored Sea 19-11 in the period. The Queens school led 34-23 at intermission.
Rebracca’s four third-quarter points helped the Vikings stay within striking distance, although they still trailed by 11 (48-37) entering the final period.
Fernandez, however, capped his big game with six points in the final quarter as the Red Storm beat an Island team for the second time in four days. They also defeated Moore Catholic 87-59 on Thanksgiving Eve.

New Dorp 64, MSIT 26
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Mohammed Mustafa scored a game-high 20 points and the visiting Centrals raced to an early lead and never looked back en route to a PSAL 3A division win over the Seagulls.
Mohammad Alshaer added 18 points for New Dorp, which improved to 3-0 this season (2-0 PSAL). Leonard Qoku and Jayden Crawford added 11 and nine points, respectively, for the winners.
Adam Kaba tallied 16 points for MSIT.
Mustafa, Qoku and Alshaer teamed for 24 first-half points as the Centrals raced to a 32-10 lead and cruised the rest of the way.
Tottenville 54, Petrides 44
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Blair Tadros poured in a game-high 27 points to lead the Pirates to the PSAL 3A division victory over the visiting Panthers in Huguenot.
Tadros, who did a solid job rebounding for the Pirates, reached his point total on the strength of 13 two-point field goals.
Adam Musleh, meanwhile, added 11 points for the Pirates, including an impressive 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line in the final period.
Jeremiah Johnson paced Petrides with 20 points, including five three-pointers.
