On December 1, 2025, at approximately 6:17 p.m., New York State Police members responded to State Highway 12 in the town of Hammond for a two-car personal-injury motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, Troopers observed a 2022 Ford and a 2017 Mazda positioned in the roadway. Troopers interviewed the operator of the Ford, identified as Christopher P. Reynolds, age 37, of Ogdensburg, New York. Reynolds stated he was traveling north on State Highway 12 when he looked down and failed to observe the 2017 Mazda slowing to make a left-hand turn, subsequently striking the Mazda in the rear.

The operator of the Mazda was identified as Cheyenne L. Evans, age 22, of Hammond, New York. Evans, who is currently pregnant, reported experiencing back pain.

Morristown Rescue arrived on scene and evaluated Evans. She was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center for further treatment.

Evans was later treated and released.

Reynolds was issued vehicle and traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Hammond Court at a later date in January.
