What Is The Current Minimum Wage Pay In New York State?
The New York State Department of Labor has a chart on their website that includes the minimum wage pay rates. Currently in New York City, Long Island and Westchester Counties, the minimum wage is set at $16.50. For the remainder of New York state, the minimum wage is currency set at $15.50 per hour.
Thankfully, New York state residents will see an increase in the minimum wage pay rates next year!
Here’s What We Know About New York State’s Minimum Wage Increase In 2026
The National Law Review shared helpful information about the minimum wage increase in New York state. They explained that the minimum wage is going to increase to $17.00 per hour. This will be for residents in locations such as New York City, Long Island and Westchester County. This will begin on January 1, 2026.
What Can The Rest Of New York State Expect For A Minimum Wage Increase?
The National Law Review shared that the rest of New York state will see an increase relating to minimum wage. Outside of New York City, Long Island and Westchester County, we will see an increase of $16.00 for minimum wage. This will also begin on January 1, 2026.
The National Law Review also explained that there will be changes to wages relating to cash and tips as well.
The New York State Department of Labor highlighted,
“Beginning in 2027, the minimum wage will annually increase by the three-year moving average of the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W) for the Northeast Region.”
Syracuse.com explained that this will be an increase of around 3% for New York City, Long Island and Westchester County. For the remaining parts of New York state, the increase will be around 3.2%.
