STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Parking will be prohibited along a section of Forest Avenue on Staten Island Wednesday as production crews film a pilot episode for a Hulu drama series based on a popular young adult novel.
Signs posted along Forest Avenue warn that parking will be restricted on the Silver Lake Park side between Haven Esplanade and Duer Lane beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3. The signs do not specify when the restrictions will end though typewritten notices at the location indicated certain areas would be closed until 10 p.m.
The project, identified as “Foster Dade” on the no-parking signs, is a Hulu drama pilot based on the young adult novel “Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos” by Nash Jenkins, as per Deadline. The series stars Matt Bomer as the adult version of the lead character and is directed by Daniel Minahan.
According to Deadline, the show takes place in 2008 and the present day and is described as a sophisticated mystery set at an East Coast boarding school that explores privilege, scandal, sexuality and masculinity amid the rise of social media, millennial anxiety and pharmaceuticals.
A source familiar with the shoot observed the production filming interior scenes Tuesday inside a house located on Greta Place. Production trucks were positioned at the St. John’s University parking lot, with crew parking and food service areas set up at the Howard Avenue entrance.
Exterior lights were used to illuminate the interior of the house being filmed. Police were present at the quiet residential location, and no trespassing signs were posted. No actors were visible during the time the source was there.
The borough has long been a popular locale for filming movies and television programs. Last month, the cast and crew of “Law & Order” were seen shooting a crossover episode with “Law & Order: SVU” at several locations in Rosebank in addition to the former Bayley Seton Hospital in Stapleton and a nearby shipyard.
Signs warn that parking will be restricted in the area as film crews shoot the upcoming Hulu pilot “Foster Dade” on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025.(Advance/SILive.com)
