The New York State Police today announced that it issued 13,036 tickets statewide during this year’s Thanksgiving holiday traffic enforcement period.

The enforcement initiative began on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, and continued through Sunday, November 30, 2025. The effort was funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

Throughout the campaign, Troopers conducted sobriety checkpoints, deployed additional DWI patrols, and ticketed drivers who were using handheld electronic devices. Troopers arrested 247 people for DWI and investigated 1,277 crashes, including two fatal crashes.

As part of the initiative, Troopers also focused on speeding and aggressive driving. A sample of tickets issued is listed below.

During the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday enforcement, the State Police issued 12,867 total tickets and arrested 259 people for DWI.
