Food Bank of Central New York receives $15,000 food security grant

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Fidelis Care presented $15,000 “Here For Your Health” food security grant to the Food Bank of Central New York.

This grant is one of ten awarded across New York State to providers and community-based organizations that support innovative food security and Food Is Medicine practices.

The funds awarded today will support a partnership with Upstate University Hospital to address chronic disease management for patients experiencing food insecurity. Funding will be used toward monthly distributions of fresh fruits and vegetables.

“Nutrition and food are healthcare,” said Fidelis Care’s Sales and Marketing Director, Shannon Lombardo. “We’re really focused on making sure folks are eating correctly. Having a good diet really can cause better outcomes in healthcare.”
