The people of New York clearly love Aaron Judge and Pete Alonso.

In fact, some of them love the two baseball stars enough to vote for them for mayor.

The vote totals for the 2025 mayoral election in New York City were released, and Judge received 11 write-in votes. The New York Yankees star wasn’t the only baseball player who received some write-in recognition, as free agent Pete Alonso, who has spent his entire career on the New York Mets, received three.

Judge, Alonso and everyone else in the election fell short against Zohran Mamdani.

Mamdani defeated former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa to become the mayor.

It would have taken a lot more write-in votes for Judge or Alonso, and they are both fairly busy with the jobs they already have at this point to consider political careers. Judge is the face of the Yankees and just captured his third American League MVP in the last four years, while Alonso is coming off a fourth consecutive All-Star appearance.

Judge is arguably the best hitter in baseball, but it will be Alonso who likely generates more headlines this offseason.

After all, the 30-year-old is one of the most notable free-agent hitters available and will be a significant piece of whatever lineup he joins. He won a Silver Slugger last season and has appeared in all 162 games in each of the last two years.

Of course, if there are no offers up to his liking, then he can maybe start exploring a political career after receiving some write-in love in the mayoral election.
