UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) — The New York Department of State’s Division of Consumer Protection is urging a federal investigation into the “Truck & Car Set: 2 Vehicles with Trailer” toy due to hazardous lead levels.

The office’s research found the toy’s red and gray coatings contain lead levels up to 11 times the federal limit.

The toy, distributed by Old East Main Co., was sold at Dollar General stores across New York State.

The Division has requested a national recall and asked Dollar General to remove the toy from shelves, which has been done pending further testing.

Consumers are advised to dispose of the toy or await recall instructions.

Those with unopened toys may seek a refund or store credit from Dollar General, according to the office.
