STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Authorities are investigating a report that an individual used crew keys to illegally enter train cars on the Staten Island Railway in St. George.

The incident occurred on an out-of-service train at about 3:25 p.m. on Thursday at the St. George Ferry Terminal, according to a report made to the MTA Police Department.

A preliminary investigation, which included a review of surveillance video footage and interviews with witnesses, revealed that an unauthorized individual possessed crew door keys.

The individual opened four car doors of the train before boarding an in-service, Tottenville-bound train and then fleeing.

No arrests have been made and the investigation continues, according to a source with knowledge of the probe.
