NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City Comptroller Brad Lander announced on Wednesday that he will be running for Congress.
He’s running in New York’s 10th Congressional District, currently held by Rep. Dan Goldman.
“Trump is abducting our neighbors and eroding our democratic institutions, and NY-10 residents are fed up with elected officials who’ve been acting like it’s normal. They want leaders who understand the stakes, and who will fight like our lives are on the line, because they are,” he wrote in an Instagram caption announcing his run.
Lander ran for New York City mayor earlier this year, but failed to win the Democratic nomination. He later endorsed Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani for the position.
He’s been vocal about ICE detentions at 26 Federal Plaza and has attended multiple court dates for immigrants facing deportation. Lander was arrested while trying to inspect the court with 10 other lawmakers in September.
