Good morning and happy Wednesday. The sun’s making an early appearance, but don’t get too used to it — clouds will roll in through the day, with rain showers expected late afternoon into the evening. We’ll hit a high of 47 degrees, but gusty winds will make it feel more like the high 30s. Layer up and keep that umbrella handy…

There’s star power on both sides of this Hell’s Kitchen hug. Longtime W42ST readers Nancy Shankman and her son, entrepreneur and author Peter Shankman. A decade after being “discovered” by a casting agent outside her granddaughter’s preschool, Nancy is making her on-screen speaking debut “in her 80s” in Marty Supreme, the new Timothée Chalamet–Gwyneth Paltrow film opening Christmas Day. As Peter put it on his social media post: “My mother has a speaking role in a major movie… I’m very, very proud of her.”
Nancy is a West Side fixture, conducting the River Place/Silver Towers Community Chorus at the end of W42nd Street. Their next holiday performance is this Thursday at 7pm in the Silver Towers lobby — a perfect chance to cheer on a neighbor whose star is rising.
Happy birthday to Simon Lobachev and Philippa Lynas.
