LINCROFT, N.J. — Master Gregory Smith of the East Coast Martial Arts Institute and the Staten Island YMCA Tae Kwon Do program reports that nine of his students took home 17 medals from the 8th N.J. Tae Kwon Do Open Championships at Brookdale Community College.
In all, five golds, six silvers and six bronze medals were mined by the individuals
The gold medal winners were Jacob Jimenez (sparring in 10-11-year-old boys’ Black lightweight division), Patricia Block-Sheehan (freestyle breaking in the girls’ 15-17 Black belt division, Mike Leydeker (power breaking and board breaking in the men’s Brown belt division) and Nicholas Leydeker (obstacle course in the boys’ 6-8 blue belt division).
