There was a not-so-sweet surprise hidden inside crates of a tropical treat.

Working off a tip, the Drug Enforcement Agency said it stopped a tractor trailer as it was heading into Brooklyn. As agents conducted a traffic stop, a search allegedly revealed drugs hidden among crates of papayas.

Photos showed boxes of the tropical fruits stacked on pallets in the rear of the truck. The drugs were not hidden in the fruits or the boxes, surprisingly, but rather were inside the wood of the pallets themselves.

In all, 130 kilograms of meth was found hidden inside the shipment, according to the DEA.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Victor Garrido, was arrested on charges related to drug smuggling. Sources said Garrido had previous arrests for drug charges and alien smuggling.

A loaded handgun was also discovered inside the vehicle.

Attempts to contact Garrido’s attorney were not successful.
