At long last, the sequel to Control has been announced: Control Resonant. It’s set to launch in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac. In Control Resonant, players will take on the role of Dylan Faden, the younger brother of Jesse Faden, as he explores a warped Manhattan on the brink of paranatural annihilation. After spending years in confinement at the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden is being deployed by his former captors at the peak of a supernatural crisis. On his path to unlocking the full potential of his abilities, Dylan will seek out his sister, FBC director Jesse Faden.
While Remedy isn’t ready to share too much about the game just yet, it did say players will explore multiple areas of Manhattan as an invading cosmic force reshapes the environment. Like the original Control, players can expect perception-binding locations as they journey beyond the material world into a metaphysical space affected by Dylan’s troubled psyche. What’s most interesting to see in the trailer is that Dylan’s combat is melee-focused with a shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant.
“CONTROL Resonant pushes our paranatural action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence,” said Mikael Kasurinen, Creative Director of CONTROL Resonant. “You don’t have to know the first game to jump into the sequel, we’ve made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It’s ambitious, a little wild, and we can’t wait for players to get lost in it.”
Helping Remedy Entertainment make Control Resonant a reality is Annapurna Pictures, which is co-financing and co-producing the game. Control Resonant will be published by Remedy Entertainment.
