STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Senior Adem Djonbalic led a balanced attack with 18 points and Susan Wagner built a first-quarter lead and gradually pulled away for a 61-50 non-league victory over visiting St. Rose (N.J.) on Saturday in Sea View.

In addition to Djonbalic, who drained four three-pointers, Darin Humes-James (13 points), Charles Gambino (10 points), Clevi Hoxha (10 points) and Chris Albano (eight points) also contributed offensively for the Falcons.

SW snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 7-2 overall.

Tyler Cameron (21 points) paced St. Rose, which is coached by Staten Island resident Chris Alesi.

“It’s good to get back on the right track heading into a big week to close out our first half league schedule,’’ said SW head coach Danny Lanigan, whose team meets Curtis and Abraham Lincoln this week. ”We received balanced scoring from our (starters) and throughout the game.’’

The Falcons got off to a good start as Humes-James and Djonbalic teamed for 13 first-quarter points en route to building an 18-9 lead at quarter’s end.

Thanks to O’Rien Campbell, who scored eight of his 11 points in the second quarter, including two treys, the Roses were able to cut their deficit to 31-27 at halftime.

However, Djonbalic and Albano teamed for three third-quarter treys and Gambino added six points to help the Falcons up their lead back to seven after three quarters.

Hoxha, meanwhile, tallied seven in the final period to solidify SW’s victory.

East Brunswick 54, New Dorp 36

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Omari Onwe scored 11 points and Elijah Pizarro added 10 points, but the Centrals fell behind early and never recovered as they dropped the Outerbridge Showcase decision to the Bears on Saturday.

Matt Mikulka scored a game-high 25 points for East Brunswick, including six three-pointers. Cam Vick added 12 markers for the Bears.

Billy Fraser and Pizarro teamed for 13 first-half points and New Dorp only trailed by five (20-15) at intermission.

However, Mikulka scored 13 second-half points, including his last three treys, as the Bears gradually pulled away.

East Brunswick outscored New Dorp 34-21 in the second half.

Carteret 66, CSIM 39

CARTERET, N.J. — Saed Gheith scored a career-high 14 points and added five steals, but the Dragons put themselves in a double-digit hole and never recovered as they dropped the Outerbridge Showcase decision to the Ramblers.

Daniel Zajonc (four assists) added 12 points for the Dragons, who dropped to 4-4 overall.

Jerry Moon and Jeremiah Arrington tallied 20 and 16 points, respectively, for Carteret.

Gheith had a three-point play and the Dragons sank 5 of 7 free throws in the opening period and they only trailed by six (17-11) at quarter’s end.

Arrington and Moon, however, teamed for 24 points in the middle two quarters and the Ramblers built a 51-35 advantage heading into the fourth quarter and never looked back.

Edison 75, Petrides 62

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Kareem Nesbitt scored a game-high 32 points, but the Panthers fell behind early and never recovered as they dropped the Outerbridge Showcase decision to the Eagles at Piscataway HS.

Daynell Rowland added 11 and Jaiden Brown and Aidan Gonzalez combined for another 14 for Petrides, who fell to 2-4 overall.

Vibe Reynolds (26 points, 6 of 7 free throws), Dheeraj Samparaboyina (17 points) and Ray Tavarez (15 points) paced Edison.

The Panthers trailed 43-32 at halftime, but Nesbitt scored nine points and Brown added his second trey to help the Sunnyside school cut its deficit to seven points (56-49) heading into the fourth quarter.

Reynolds, however, tallied nine in the final period and the Eagles drained 8 of 9 freebies to fend off the Panthers.

Perth Amboy 64, Tottenville 54

CARTERET, N.J. — Senior Danny Garcia poured in a game-high 27 points and the Pirates held a halftime lead before the Panthers staged a second-half comeback en route to the Outerbridge Showcase victory at Carteret HS.

In addition to Garcia, who finished with five three-pointers, Tottenville received a combined 23 points from Elias Souleidis, Shiloh Ezderman and Zyeveon Miller. The Pirates dropped to 5-2 as their five-game winning streak came to a halt.

Kasey Abreu and Yondel Sosuna tallied 22 points apiece for Perth Amboy.

Garcia was hot early as his 15 first-half points helped give Tottenville a 34-29 lead at halftime.

But the Pirates scored only eight third-quarter points and Sosuna’s six markers helped the Panthers carry a 43-42 lead into the final eight minutes.

Abreu and Sosuna then teamed for 13 markers in the final period as the New Jersey school pulled away.

Old Bridge 65, Eagle Academy SI 42

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Anthony Riley scored a team-high 11 points and Eagle hung around for three quarters before the Knights pulled away for the Outerbridge Showcase victory at Piscataway HS.

Armani Perez added nine points for Eagle, which dropped to 2-6 overall.

Amari Alsbrook and Victor Przepiora scored 20 and 18 points, respectively, for Old Bridge.

Riley scored nine points and Justin Webley and Shiloh King teamed for another 10 as EASI trailed by only seven (34-27) at intermission.

But the Knights rode the scoring of Alsbrook and Przepiora to pull away in the second half.

Piscataway 76, MSIT 20

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Seagulls fell behind early and never recovered as they dropped the Outerbridge Showcase decision to the host Chiefs.

Terence Legrand paced MSIT with nine points (three treys).

Isaiah Fowler (14 points), Donald Nwaigwe (10 points), Josh Lima (10 points) and Landon Pernell (10 points) paced the Chiefs.
