NEW YORK (PIX11) – New York City students will be waking up Monday morning to head to class, as all public schools are open.
Schools across the tri-state area are holding delayed openings or are closed due to the weekend snowstorm, which dumped up to 7 inches of snow in some parts of New York and New Jersey.
NYC forecast and PIX11’s Weather Center
The National Weather Service warned residents that black ice is expected on roads during the morning commute. Temperatures dropped into the teens overnight, so any moisture and slush that was left untreated likely froze.
Wind gusts between 30 to 40 mph are also possible, with chills down to 0 degrees. Anyone traveling outside is advised to dress warmly, as frostbite can set in within 30 minutes.
Alternate side parking, however, is suspended due to the snow. All trash collections are still on schedule.
