Manhattan, NY Jack Resnick & Sons and the family behind Fresco by Scotto are extending the Italian restaurant’s 32-year run at 485 Madison Ave. for at least another decade.
Co-founded and led for decades by family matriarch Marion Scotto, Fresco by Scotto has been a staple of Midtown Manhattan dining since 1993. Now, thanks to a 10-year lease renewal, the restaurant widely known for power lunches and celebrity clientele will continue supplying New Yorkers with its unique blend of creative and traditional Italian dishes, including Mama Scotto’s famous meatballs, Italian desserts, impeccable service and upscale décor.
Now co-owned by Marion’s daughter Rosanna Scotto of Good Day New York fame, Fresco by Scotto is co-managed by a third generation of the family – Rosanna’s son and daughter, LJ and Jenna Ruggiero. Rosanna and her children have stayed true to the family business’ successful roots while also implementing innovative concepts to ensure the restaurant remains fresh, vibrant and popular. This month, they are debuting a Saturday brunch with a live DJ and expanding their special events and catering services.
“Fresco by Scotto long ago established itself as an institution at 485 Madison and a go-to spot for Midtown’s residents, workers and visitors,” said Jonathan Resnick, president of Jack Resnick & Sons. “As a family-run firm that has been around for nearly 100 years, we understand what an achievement it is to maintain a successful business across three generations. We are thrilled to extend our partnership with Rosanna, LJ and Jenna well into the next decade.”
“For more than three decades, Fresco by Scotto has been our family’s labor of love, and we are so proud to continue serving New Yorkers and visitors alike at 485 Madison,” said Rosanna Scotto. “Carrying on the tradition my mother started in 1993, while also bringing new energy and ideas with LJ and Jenna, is incredibly meaningful. We’re grateful to Jack Resnick & Sons for their partnership and look forward to welcoming our guests for many more years of delicious food, laughter, and memories.”
Built in 1929 for the CBS Radio Network, Jack Resnick & Sons acquired the J.E.R. Carpenter-designed 485 Madison in 1976. The 305,675 s/f building features a double-height, limestone lobby with soaring, wrap-around mahogany wood panels. 485 Madison has achieved Gold certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED rating system, as well as WiredScore Gold and EnergyStar certifications.
Located at the corner of 52nd St., the property is situated in close proximity to Grand Central Terminal and multiple subway lines, as well as Central Park, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and a plethora of Plaza District shops, restaurants and museums.
