A City Council bill in New York City that would let permanent residents of one-and-two-family homes offer short-term rentals will not get a vote in 2025.
The last day of council business was Thursday, and the housing committee did not move the bill forward.
City and state laws currently block homeowners from putting their entire properties on short-term rental platforms for fewer than 30 days, and limit the number of guests to two adults.
The bill under consideration, 948B, would expand the maximum number of adult guests to four, excluding children. It would also allow hosts to lock bedroom doors, something that is effectively prohibited under current “common house
