BROOKLYN, Iowa — Authorities executed a search warrant at 142 Jackson Street, targeting an apartment linked to Skoky Gene Strohm, 34, amid an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Strohm fled to the attic when the Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team entered. Negotiators attempted to persuade him to surrender peacefully. He was later found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting with the death investigation. Strohm had active warrants at the time of the search.
Nearby BGM Community School was informed of the situation. The school assured parents and guardians that students and staff were never in danger. They communicated promptly to confirm the public’s safety.
