COLONIE — An injured ram was found Wednesday on ice overlooking the Mohawk River, police said.
Rams are not natives to the area, police said, leading them to conclude that the animal was abandoned.
Police said they were called at 9:12 a.m. to care for the non-roaming ram found near the Cohoes Crescent Road parking lot for the New York Power Authority.
“We assisted with the ram, but we’re not caring for it. It’s at a veterinary hospital,” said Marguerite Pearson, a spokeswoman for the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
The animal was getting medical care.
Anyone with information about the animal can call the Colonie Police Department at 518-783-2744 and ask for Investigator David Mink or Investigator Brian Curran.
