STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Police identified Nilsa Cruz of Mariners Harbor as the 66-year-old woman who died after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a busy street in West Brighton.
Cruz and two other women, ages 51 and 29, were crossing Castleton about 46 feet west of Barker Street— a stretch without a traffic light — when they were hit by a westbound 2019 gray Ford F-250, according to multiple sources.
The women were not in a crosswalk when the accident occurred at about 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.
The 66-year-old woman, who police said lived in the Mariners Harbor Houses, initially complained of stomach pain but suffered internal injuries and later died at Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to police.
The 51-year-old woman complained of head pain and the 29-year-old woman experienced back pain, according to police.
All three women were listed in stable condition when they were transported to the hospital, according to police.
The driver of the Ford F-250 remained at the scene.
No charges have been filed in connection with the crash and the investigation continues on Friday, a spokesman for the NYPD said.
