EAST NEW YORK — POLICE ARE SEARCHING for two men suspected in a string of purse snatchings targeting women in East New York, according to News 12.

At least four incidents were reported in early December, all occurring within minutes of each other near an above-ground train station. In one case, police say the suspects approached a 60-year-old woman, demanded money, pushed her to the ground and fled with her purse. In two incidents, victims’ cell phones were also stolen.

Residents say the pattern has heightened concern in the neighborhood, particularly for older women walking alone. Police believe the suspects deliberately targeted women. No arrests have been announced.

The NYPD is reviewing the incidents and urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
